As engineers we tend to spend a lot of time solving various problems for ourselves and others. A friend has a problem and it needs to be fixed. The electronic flight stabilizor needs to be fixed. Middle East needs to be fixed. You catch my drift? Point is, problem solving requires a certain particular mindset that requires people to be able to narrow the problem down to a single component and be able to quickly provide a solution for it. Naturally, continuous problem solving might be a drain as most of the time all you will see are problems with your devices and that can be pretty disappointing. Naturally the flip side is that we get to fix things and create solutions and see others happy because of the functionality we just provided them. How would you approach your next challenge while incorporating different problem-solving and solution-oriented mindsets? Will you be able to find satisfaction with your work that way?
In an effort to promote unique people and unique ideas I would like to sponsor a $1,000,000 engineering scholarship at Stark Industries. Let's think about it.. back in the day, when James Bond used miniature cameras in the 60s even the thought of a wireless phone capable of sending pictures of sounds to anyone in the world would have been unimaginable and the audience would have thought it was a joke. 40-50 years ago it was hard to imagine various solutions to problems we have available for us today.. Naturally, some of the things we think of as unobtainable will be available in the future, and others that we can't even imagine will be an everyday thing. Hard working scientists and engineers will have discovered and created all sorts of new and amazing things.
What can you imagine that nobody else can?
Answer this and the Engineering Scholarship at Stark Industries is yours.
As I’m sure many of you know, they are making yet another movie on me (oh, and the four other guys that make up The Avengers). When times were simpler, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, and I took matters into our own hands. For those that might not be as familiar, these are the guys I raised hell with and you should know them too.
Thor, who actually has his own movie out right now, is one of the few of us who was just given his powers. Not something you see everyday. He walks around with his big hammer and thinks he’s something, haha. He’ll kick your ass and take your girl, which is why he is on my team. He has trouble with his “previous life” and his memory is worse than an 80-year old man. However, he is one of my best friends and I just hope they don’t cast another Ken Barbie Doll for his character.
Captain America (quite a name right?), this is the one guy who actually has worked for the government and still might be allowed on White House grounds. Bascially, the good guy. Every crew has one and he’s ours. The man has no powers, no suit, not anything. He runs, jumps, and actually does the fighting himself. Refusing to take any outside advice, he is what he is. Oh, I almost forgot, while we fight the worst villains in the world, he carriers around a shield. Supposedly, it can never be broken but he still won’t stand in front of my rockets for a test. It seems they chose another poser for this role, Chris Evans. They guy has been playing superheroes in movies since he started. He gave the Human Torch the quite an embarrassing reputation with his performance in the Fantastic Four. We’ll see how he will do as Captain America.
BIG MAN! The Incredible Hulk they call him. Bigger than a freakin bear when he’s all jacked up. The man fights with his shirt off so the whole world can see his body. Resulting from a science experiment gone wrong, he has the shear strength of a semi and the looks of … well … I’ll just let you decide. He gets bigger as he gets more pissed off. So that’s always fun to get started. I’m talking big. He slaps his hands together and it sends a shockwave around him. He’s the meathead, but also has a PhD in physics. Mark Ruffalo is playing him. What in the world was casting thinking on that one. I’m not sure if the guy has any superhero in him.
Last but not least, there is the man that not many people talk about. Kind of the newcomer in the group, but certainly has not acted like it. Hawkeye, sometimes people call him Ronin or Goliath, shoots with a bow an arrow. Yeah … I know. The thing is, as much as I hate to say it, he doesn’t miss and usually brings the place down faster than any of us can.
From what I hear it does not come out until next Spring, so you will all just have to wait to see what Hollywood can come up with next.
Hello everyone it's me again. Today while I was working on Mark 4 version of the suit, Jarvis made me aware of a few interesting so-called Internet sensations that are all related to me. More importantly, it's people trying to be like me, do what I do and act how I act.. I could say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery but I'd rather say "Get your own lives you weirdos and come up with your own awesomeness!" First off, we have a video of a guy who supposedly recreated my War Machine suit and is now going around pretending he's me - admittedly his suit doesn't work but still, what the hell? Here's a video of the guy and let me tell you, does he look stupid..
The next piece of marvel (lol) that out there is a guy who is getting dangerously close to recreating one of my early repulsors and thats also not very cool. The most important thing about this one is that he does not only show off his design on the internet for everyone to see, but he also shares hints on how to build one, which frankly is a breach of some patenting law.. I'll ask Pepper about it. Anyway, here's the video.
Also as a side note, someone has unauthorizedly released a photo of the Xbox case we've been designing and now that is also all over the internet.. why can't you people just wait?
So what's really the point behind all these pictures and videos and posts? I wanted to talk to you guys about the Internet and all the stuff that can go wrong when using it. When my father helped design the Internet back in the 80s he never thought it would reach such scale and have so much potential all over the world. We all use internet extremely extensively in our lives and are as such exposed to a lot of dangers of it. Well, not me cause I'm Iron Man, but all the rest of you normal people. Here at Stark Industries we try really hard to ensure that the Internet stays regulation free and thus enjoyable to everyone. The problem with that is that our society has increasingly become a bunch of followers and weak voices that only yell at each other without having anything interesting to say. Nothing pisses me off more than a bunch of idiots ranting about useless stuff under one of my red carpet pictures. Yes, its a free country and you are allowed to say whatever you like, but please think twice before doings to.
You may ask why I take my time to write about such meaningless stuff? Well, it's not meaningless after all.. turns out a lot of people are watching, collaborating and learning from each other which is a fantastic idea. Young Americans and people all over the world communicate and solve problems and make friendships. The Internet should be a place for sharp minds, great inventions and outstanding ideas that benefit everyone around us, not just a yell-forum. Even the guys above, yes they are imitating my style and are failing at it, obviously.. but at least they believe in what they do, they devote time to it and they are learning while creating it.. and that's what this is all about.
Today I came across an article by Warren Mark Liew. It’s called “Digital Hidden Transcripts: Exploring Student Resistance in Blogs.” Random? Yeah, I know. But I just wanted to talk about this article, cause it’s kind of ridiculous. Warren talks about students using blogging for personal expression, identity exploration, and sociable interactions. It seems like the author is for the blogging system . But some teachers don’t accept it, because they say that students who blog can say pretty offensive things about them. I personally like blogging. It’s like a journal, but public. I’m doing it right now, aren’t I? It expresses freedom of expression. Yeah, people don’t like to be talked badly about… especially in public. Why? We’re all so self-centered… People get defensive and unsatisfied when they get what they don’t want or don’t get what they want. I personally don’t care if people bash on me. I know I can be a jerk at times, but I also know that I’m good. As long as I know I’m fine, then really, I’m fine. Nobody else can change who I am and how I act. If you look at the previous post, I talked about Obadiah. Well, I guess it doesn’t really count as much, because he’s dead now. But if he saw my blog post, I really don’t care. He should know my feelings and what kind of guy he is to me. So many things are bothering me these days. Or actually, I guess I’m just easily bothered. I came across a thought after looking at a couple of articles of North Korea and South Korea and about their situation, their struggle with each other, etc.
It’s been awhile now since North Korea randomly attacked South Korea. Although I’m not Asian, North Korea’s technology use and the way they’re using it is making me feel so uneasy and frustrated. They’re making weapons and attacking for no good reason or purpose. They’re just creating chaos. It doesn’t make sense to me. Wouldn’t you want to avoid conflict?
Also, refugees need to be freed from prison. This reminds me of Yeenseen, the guy I was in prison with. He saved my life and helped me out so much with my Iron Man escape. I will never forget his bravery, his loyalty, his intelligence, and our friendship. He was so patient with me and so helpful. Without him, I don’t know how I would’ve done the escape on my own.
I think the last phrase he told me before he left was “Don’t waste your life.” I can’t imagine how many days or months he has been in that little cave as a prisoner. He valued his life and his purpose on this earth. Those words really stuck out to me. I thought about it, and I don’t want to waste life and just make technology out of the heck of it. I don’t want to live meaninglessly. Save people? Okay, I’ll do it. I’ll make technology for the good of others and not only for myself. Well, maybe a little for myself… but not entirely. Doesn’t everyone do stuff for themselves? Just because I’m Iron Man doesn’t mean I’m not human.
The other day, while I was waxing some of my sports cars, I came across an article, “Technology and Its Discontents: On the Verge of the Posthuman,” by Joel Dinerstein. It was interesting… Dinerstein was basically saying that technology is currently changing and transforming history and society, leading our future. I must admit that’s pretty funny. When he says this I image computers and other machines taking over the world. Certainly, my machines that I build and work with will never be in much control to lead. Take Jarvis for example. I tell him what to do, and he faithfully listens and obeys. They’re basically the few I trust on this earth other than Pepper, of course. So I guess this means that… I disagree with this Dinerstein guy. Technology driving my history and society? I don’t really think so. I mean, yeah… It’s making an impact on things like war and people’s urge to become authoritative, jealous, selfish, power-hungry, revengeful, etc. I can keep on going, but I’ll stop there. I‘m just referencing and bashing on Obadiah now. He’s long gone, so we don’t really need to have much concern about him. But anyways, who’s making technology? I am. We are. We are the ones who are making technology. Without us humans, technology cannot exist. It’s just that obvious. So… what’s really driving history and society? We simply are. We need more people on earth to be knowledgeable and responsible with technology. That is why Iron Man needs to come into the picture and show people how to use technology the right way. If only other people were like me. This world wouldn’t have much problems. I guess the only good thing is that it keeps me busy.
With that being said… I can agree to a different article I read recently: “Lines of sight in the ‘networked society’: simulation, art education, and a digital visual culture” by Sweeny. Sweeny says that both society and technology shape one another up instead of having a one-way relationship (I like that it’s mutual). Technology obviously has an impact on society. How? Look at Obadiah for an example. People get spoiled. Also, when someone is more high-tech than the other, he/she usually holds more power. This makes societies different from each other. You can also see the other perspective: society impacts technology. How? Whatever values, interests, or state a society is in, its technology will be different. Look at our country, the USA. People like to be quick (cause we‘re so impatient), make things easily accessible (cause we‘re lazy), and look sophisticated than they really are (for their own reputation… I guess I can be guilty of this). This changes the advancement of our technology and such. Look at our cell phones these days. You can go on the Internet, check your email, have a GPS system, video chat, and so much more. Technology just keeps getting better with more you can do on a single medium. I wonder where technology is going to be headed in the future. I’ll probably figure that out before anybody else does. I actually do have a few ideas in mind that I’m currently working on. Be ready, world.
Technology and the sharing of information and ideas has brought me to the level of success that I enjoy everyday. I also stand in favor for the Open Internet and Net Neutrality, which everyone seems to be talking about these days. BUT, there is a line. There is a clear line that keeps the Internet from being completely Open and keeps the Net from being totally Neutral. There are firewalls and security measures for a reason. Some better than others, mine better than all others. With that, this Julian Assange punk needs to wake up. I am one of the biggest critics of the US Department of Defense. With that said, screw you Julian and your moronic move to make military government documents available online.
From what I have heard about this guy, he is all about information for everyone and he believes he will “unveil” oppressive regimes abroad.Hey buddy, you’re not going to magically unveil anything involving unknown oppressive regimes. We know about them and they are being taken care of by people who do this for a living.Another thing, those documents are not made available for a reason. This Internet thing you posted on can be accessed by anyone; meaning your neighbor, a local insane terrorist, and THE ACTUAL NATIONS WE ARE FIGHTING AGAINST.Is this part of your genius plan?
To be clear, I do not care too much about the works of the regimes that Julian posted. What I do care about is that this schmuck thinks its ok to put up military documents concerning our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.Soldiers are still dying over there! We are still fighting.Even though you might not give two cold ones about our involvement there, millions of other people do.I should pick you up tomorrow, drop you in one of those military zones, and start taking some pictures of you peeing your pants as tanks roll by.Wouldn’t that be a great leak!
I see you are spending you’re time bouncing around from country to country so no one can catch you either. Many people have similar intentions as you do.Open Government!Wahoo!Yea, the government can’t unveil our missions when at war. It’s something that no government does, try to wrap your head around that. There are explicit and, I hope for your sake, obvious reasons for that.
I leave you with some words of advice.I have seen people like you before come and go.Nonetheless, you can post and talk as much as you want about civil unrest in countries where leaders probably as boneheaded as you. That’s fine.People should be recognizing the whole world is not like their hometown. However, if you do choose post a single document regarding current military affairs in wars abroad, we might have to spend some time together. And in that time I’m sure I could manage to make you even bigger online than you are right now. I don’t care if Time Magazine thinks you’re cool.On that note, no one thinks that cover of Time Magazine is cool.
To all of the rest of you, thank you for putting up with another (I’m sure) inspiring list of thoughts that come to me. I have to leave; I hear I’m throwing quite the get-together tonight. I just wish I wasn’t the last to hear about them. I will end with the newest member of the family.
Libyan rebels are in desperation mode as they battle Qaddafi Forces while the US and NATO have been hesitant to get involved. Having spent time “working” in the Middle East in unstable countries I have seen my far share of rebels try to use weapons they have no idea about. In Afghanistan, I came face-to-face with a Taliban member who blew his left arm trying to use a rocket launcher. What I’m getting at is what war is like without the constant involvement of countries and companies of the west. I was over in Libya yesterday making sure Stark Industries weapons were not involved and saw NATO vehicles with medical assistance for Libyan’s. You send these people in the middle of a war and expect them to help? This is how you get people killed.
More recently, NATO and the US had initial strikes to fully destroy Qaddafi soldiers and associates. They think that NATO can do a better job that Stark Industries with this? In a day when we can find out the type of mustard stained on a man’s paints from a satellite, we are “mistakenly” attackingly Libyan Rebels and killing those that are on OUR side. Government supported military agencies are using technologies that Stark Industries developed back at the turn of the millennium. Dr. al-Awami, a fourth-year medical student who bravely provided first aid on the battlefield was murdered by shrapnel while tending to those rebels that were fired upon by NATO. My analysts sit in there offices and watch all of the boneheaded mistakes that NATO makes everyday. The fact of the matter is, NO ONE has proven to be more effective than myself and the science and engineering behind Iron Man.
UAV’s from our base in California have hit targets in Iraq with 100% success rates. A fighter pilot who has gone through years of "professional military training" is hitting the wrong targets and killing the people we are trying to support and develop “relations” (get US some oil, baby!) with. Libya conveniently has the largest amount of oil reserves in Africa, but hell I’m not complaining, my rides need to be fueled somehow. What I am rambling on about is the lack of precision that NATO seems to be fine with. We BOMBED his compound a couple days ago and still couldn’t get him in his own HOME (http://fxn.ws/mPVtRF)! So instead of being praised for the quick crushing of a moronic tyrant, news headlines around the world are reading that we only killed his kids.
HAHA! As I rant on about the pitiful job that NATO, and the US in particular, has down in Libya, the media has finally found out. USAMA has been taken down! I’m sure US camps across the world are partying tonight, as I will be. http://bit.ly/m55CYa The old man seemed to get too comfortable after nearly 10 years of running from bunker to bunker in that god-for-saken desert he calls home. Obama let the public know he was presented with a lead (source not to be disclosed yet, but seems to be a private US company hmmmm, I wonder?) back in August on Usama’s location and where he has been doing business. A small team was reported to have been involved in a firefight on a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. No US military personal were injured. What the public isn’t fully realizing is that this happened OVER A WEEK AGO! You think that word would spread faster. However, as I hate to say it, US Department of Defense handled the situation well. No doubt, a great day for the greatest country on Earth. I’m sure the men involved on that team have been having one hell of a week. Cheers Boys!
